Moby - Slipping Away

                                      

至少难以忘怀的，还是那张此刻听来音乐性依旧出奇完臻的Play，纵使对这么一张灵巧的电音折衷小品来说，实在太过于叫座。但若说接手的18因为太过相似却又不及Play而令人失望，再聆听距Play整整六年之后的新辑Hotel，则是个足以叫人心碎的时刻。Moby虽试图接续18里的We Are All Made of Stars，反映出70年代的David Bowie带给他的音乐薰陶，同时并稍稍回应了当今的post-punk与new wave返古热潮，但这些“摇滚化”的倾向在Hotel中所反映出来的却只是半调子，Moby依旧无法离弃他自Play以来大量铺陈键盘/合成器音色的习性，甚至在节拍上刻意复古，佐以变化甚小的节奏组态与鼓奏；两相鎔铸的结果，反倒像是一组试图电气化的modern rock乐团失败的成品。
